What happened to Donkey?

Join us at el Burro for an evening of delectable Mexican canapes, a frozen La Meurte- Agave de Jalisco Margarita (read: sublime), a chance to mingle with fellow Twits and non Twits and win some fantastic prizes, as we celebrate Donkey’s prolific return back home to the loving arms of the house of taco and salsa…and tequila!

R20 of every ticket will be donated to help2read (Please contact me through the blog or Marc at marc@help2read.org if you’d like to know more about what we do, how to volunteer and our events). Allow us to take this opportunity to extend a very warm thank you to Nic and the team at El Burro who have allowed us to share Donkey’s limelight!

It costs help2read R1000 a year to put  one child though our programme- so you know where the pennies are going.

In addition to some awesome prizes, you could win a unique art replica of donkey if you Tweet a sonnet, haiku or a few lines about what happened to donkey: send your tweet to @help2read or leave a comment here.

Little donkey, little donkey lived in El Burro.
Eating yum yums that made his tummy grow.
“A shot or two of tequila should ease me into bed”
    From 1 to 2 and 2 to 5, suddenly donkey had 10

Little donkey, little donkey cried into the night
“My hooves are heavy and my home’s not in sight”
He closes his eyes and cries himself to sleep,
dreaming of carrots and jumping sheep.

Little donkey, little donkey, wakes up looking like hell
He sniffs the air and recognises the smell
“Tacos, salsa and oh no tequila shots of ten?
How he got home, no one knows, but he never drank again.

To get the ball rolling,we’ll fathom a guess; He saw another donkey, wearing a dress; For true love @_El_Burro, he cantered away; they eloped & got married, that very same day; Now they’ve returned, because the honeymoon she’s done; this donkey he’s back, no longer on the run

Nacho Libre – the movie, you’ve seen?
Burro the Luchador, in the ring is where he’s been.
In Mekiko, fighting for fame and fighting for glory
But he missed Cape Town too much, hence the end of the story

There once was a donkey so astounding, it blinded its foes with sheer awesomeness. A mere wink would conquer all.

Who shot JR? Donkey did, & ran off on a whirlwind affair with a panda named Lucy. Good times.

    The eve began
    Tequila in hand
    Where would it lead?
    Pin the tail on me

Heady drinks made for lost thoughts
The nights I was gone were hangover fraught
But Lo! I am now returned anew
And for my friends a fresh tequila brew!
