It’s no secret, I will be hosting a Spier Secret Dinner this Saturday along with a number of talented food personalities. I have a wonderful cast of friends on board, so while I can not give you any details about what’s planned (the secret part) I can share with you some of their mug shots….scroll down. Pretty lot, eh?
Furthermore, and close to my heart, this year’s festival is associated with the Peninsula Scheme Feeding Association (web site being updated) which feeds school children in need across the Western Cape. You can not teach a hungry child, and we hope to raise awareness for them and encourage attendees to ‘adopt’ a child for R370, for an entire year. Very doable.

I love food and I love your blog and I’m good at keeping secrets- please let me be secretly in love this weekend! And Anna van Dyk has liked the facebook page for Food and the Fabulous and Toffie Pop (no love button was available to click, I compromised)
I absolutely love pairing a great slow-cooked oxtail potjie with a lovely spicy Shiraz and for dessert, some fresh strawberries dipped into chocolate, chilled in the freezer with a lovely off-dry sparkling wine.
I liked both pages. Can my wine be champagne? Then I would give the old classic a twist and say my favorite pairing is: Fried oyster po’boy with Bollinger champagne.
And Annika Ziehen is my Facebook name.
My favorite food is lasagne. I know the cheese sauce tends to make the food a bit richer so I would say a Rioja crianza, a medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon or a Syrah/Malbec blend would be a great match. Hope I win, I love Spier. I have liked both the pages and my FB username is Brian Hope
I have liked both pages
I have liked both pages. My FB name is Colette Blanchard.
The best combination I eva had grilled fish, mix veg and potatoe quaters in jacket raosted in garlic butter, a glass of fruity champagne.
I sure like both FB pages.
I love plain boerekos.
I mentioned that I like plain boerekos. Seems like someone already mentioned it. What about just a nice braai with Spier wine.
Delicious creamy, lemony risotto with a wooded chardonnay
I have liked both Food and the Fabulous and Toffie Pop Culture and Conference Festival Facebook Pages.
Pinot Noir with Peking Duck, Cabernet with stir-fry beef dishes (if they’re not too hot), rich Chardonnay with Lobster Cantonese

We just love a rich and hearty oxtail stew together with a merlot red wine, especially in winter!
I love the pairing of veal osso bucco with milanese risotto and chardonnay – for me it is a match made in heaven. Served with gremolata it can really highlight the citrus notes sometimes found in Chardonnay. I have liked the Food & the Fab page as well as Toffie page.
BEST food and wine pairing for me recently is Chestnut tagliatelle with wild mushroom sauce and white truffle, and a soothing glass of Pinot Noir. Liked both pages and tweeted
I have liked both the Food and the Fabulous and the Toffie Pop FB page. Facebook name is Tania Horne
I have liked both pages, and i found with a pasta dish, Perdeberg smooth red, Cabernet Sauvignon does the trick
Spicy shiraz with a strawberry, rocket and gorganzola cheese salad, drizzeled with balsamic reduction
My favourite pairing was the sliced salmon and avo crackers with natural sweet rose, and also the bacon, rocket, red oninon and tomatoe salad covered with hollondaise sauce paired with red wine…..lovely
My fav pairing: layers of crushed roasted nuts and homemade vanilla icecream frozen together & cut into slices, served with spicy Zinfandel (Blaauwklippen’s work brilliantly!). And of course I like both your FB pages 😉
My favourite pairing is a medium rare fillet, only seasoned with salt and pepper, with a good cabernet sauvignon. You do not need 11 herbs and spices for a steak when it’s accompanied by a decent bottle of red.
I liked both pages 😀 Facebook name: Lynn Jooste Moyse
I have like both pages..food is always devine, my favourite pairing is a lovely grilled rare rib eye steakwith scrumptious blue cheese sauce topping along with a glass of cappupino ccinotage….devine
An oldy, but a goodie: A proper wooded Chardonnay and generous bit of camembert cheese. Yumm
